Vinohradský pivovar
Vinohradský pivovar is a Prague brewery whose origins trace to 1893, now producing alcohol-free lagers and IPAs alongside its full range of traditional Czech beers. Originally named Měšťanský Pivovar, it first produced beer at the end of 1894, seated in the Vinohrady district on the site of the original Burghers Brewery. A group of friends began reconstruction in 2013, and the brewery reopened under its current name in the autumn of 2014 with Jiří Fišer as brewmaster.
Vinohradský pivovar brews with Czech malt and uses Sládek and Žatec hops. Beer is produced in a 25-hectolitre copper kettle heated by direct gas, fermented in open vats, and matured in horizontal lager tanks. The beers are left unpasteurised and unfiltered. In 2022, a second production facility opened in Káraný on the outskirts of Prague, giving the brewery capacity beyond its original Vinohrady site.
The Korunní 106 location occupies the former fermentation cellar of the original Burghers Brewery and combines a brewery, restaurant, and large music hall. Vinohradský pivovar is home to the Brewery and Malt Research Institute and is the only brewery in the Vinohrady district producing its own beer. Its alcohol-free beers sit within a broader range of traditional Czech lagers and top-fermented ales, serving drinkers who want to explore Czech beer styles without alcohol. The brewery has plans to distribute more widely across the city.
