WALT
WALT is a German alcohol-free wine label producing a single-varietal Riesling sourced from the Mosel valley, created by winemaker Axel Pauly of Weingut Axel Pauly in Lieser. The name is an acronym for "We Are Lucky Today", and the project was developed in collaboration with wine importer Awin Barratt Siegel Wine Agencies, who brought the label to specialist wine merchants around 2020.
The alcohol is removed using vacuum distillation, a process that operates at reduced pressure so alcohol separates at much lower temperatures than conventional distillation, protecting the delicate aromatic character of the Riesling grape. WALT's range is deliberately focused: a single 100% Mosel Riesling, positioned as a premium AF offering for sober-curious drinkers who want a wine with genuine regional provenance rather than a generic dealcoholised white. The label carries a fingerprint motif representing three generations of the Pauly family, a design element shared with the estate's full-strength wines. Distribution runs through specialist wine merchants and independent retailers via the ABS Wine Agencies wholesale network.
