Bach Brewing
Bach Brewing is a family-owned New Zealand craft brewery, founded by Craig Cooper in 2013, that brews alcohol-free beers from its base between the shores of Auckland's harbours.
The brewery's name comes from Craig Cooper's grandparents' bach on the Mahia Peninsula. Bach Brewing remains family-owned and partners with Steam Brewery in Auckland for production. Two old Limburg recipes provided the starting point for the range.
The alcohol-free beers are fermented to 0.5% ABV and filtered. The brewery uses generous dry-hopping, a process in which hops are added after fermentation to develop aroma and flavour. The inspiration for the alcohol-free IPA in the range came from a barbeque lunch in Kumeu.
In 2021, Bach Brewing was the independent craft brand to market with a zero alcohol beer. One of its drinks has since picked up an award. The beers suit sober-curious drinkers and are available through specialist alcohol-free retailers.
