Lucky Saint
Lucky Saint is an unfiltered alcohol-free lager, brewed in Bavaria, Germany, using vacuum distillation to remove the alcohol, and the UK's number one independent alcohol-free beer. Founded by Luke Boase through Not Another Beer Co Ltd, a company incorporated in the UK in August 2017, the brand launched in October 2018 following development in collaboration with an established Bavarian brewery.
The lager is built on just four natural ingredients: Bavarian barley, Hallertau hops, water and a yeast strain the brand developed itself. Lucky Saint brews using centuries-old beer-making methods, with a six-week maturation period, and leaves the beer unfiltered throughout. The alcohol is removed through vacuum distillation, a technique in which the beer is heated under low pressure so the alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature, keeping the character of the finished lager intact. Because the beer is produced in Germany, it carries the label "alcohol-free" under European labelling rules; the same beer is classified as "de-alcoholised" in the UK, reflecting a difference in regulatory thresholds.
Lucky Saint also holds the top position on Trustpilot for alcohol-free beer. The brand has been the official beer partner of the Dry January campaign, and the beer is suitable for designated drivers and pregnant women.
Lucky Saint extended to draught in January 2020; by January 2024, the beer was on tap at over 1,000 venues. The range spans lagers, IPAs and wheat beers. In 2023, the brand's owners opened a Lucky Saint pub in Marylebone, London.
