Ambar
Ambar is a Spanish beer brand from La Zaragozana, a brewery founded in Zaragoza in 1900, and the producer of the first alcohol-free beer sold commercially in Spain.
La Zaragozana was established on 10 July 1900, when its first brewmaster, Charles Schlaffer, arrived from Germany. The brewery has operated from the same site in Zaragoza's historic San José neighbourhood ever since, within the Aragon region of northeastern Spain. It remains independent and 100% family-owned. With more than 125 years of brewing history, Ambar is one of the oldest breweries in Spain.
The brewery has a record of firsts in the Spanish beer market. In 1976, it launched the first alcohol-free beer to be sold commercially in Spain. It also introduced the first ale in Spain. In 2008, it released one of the first gluten-free beers. In 2011, it produced the world's first alcohol-free gluten-free beer. The brewery uses enzymes to remove gluten from its beers and employs open vat fermentation. Ambar launched its first nationwide campaign in 2017.
Ambar's full range spans 18 beer varieties, including lagers, ales, and IPAs. The alcohol-free line covers lagers, citrus radlers made with natural lemon juice, and tostada-style beers. The brewery continues to operate from the Zaragoza site where it began.
