Ambar

The brewery in the San José district of Zaragoza is recognised as a historic industrial heritage site, with over 120 years of continuous operation. Ambar is owned by Grupo Ágora, a 100% family-owned Spanish company.

Ambar's commitment to alcohol-free brewing stretches back further than almost any other European brewery. In 1976, Ambar launched Spain's first AF beer, establishing a presence in the category decades before it became commercially mainstream. In 2011, Ambar extended that lead by releasing Spain's first gluten-free AF beer, broadening the range for drinkers with dietary requirements.

The centrepiece of the current AF offering is the Triple Zero range, built around three commitments: zero alcohol, zero sugar, and zero CO2 emissions from production. The environmental dimension of the Triple Zero concept distinguishes the range from most competitors, which focus solely on the nutritional profile. The AF lineup spans standard lagers, roasted malt and dark beer variants, gluten-free formats, and Radler-style options within the Triple Zero framework. Production uses vacuum evaporation to remove alcohol from fully brewed beer, a low-temperature method that operates at reduced pressure to protect the aroma compounds that conventional high-heat processing would destroy. The brewery has documented this technique as central to the sensory character of its AF beers.

The Triple Zero range is available through specialist alcohol-free retailers, sitting in the premium bracket relative to mass-market imported lagers. The zero-sugar and zero-carbon positioning makes the range particularly relevant for fitness-focused drinkers as well as those who simply prefer not to drink.
