Bishop Nick
Bishop Nick is a sixth-generation family brewer of real ale, founded in 2011 in Felsted, Essex, and now operating from a 20-barrel brewery on East Street in Braintree.
The brewery was established by Nelion Ridley, son of the last chairman of Ridleys Brewery, built from the ashes of that earlier Essex brewing company. Bishop Nick moved to a new brewery in Braintree in 2013, and head brewer Alexander Ratter now oversees production at that site, where local ingredients are used throughout the portfolio.
The core range covers a broad sweep of British brewing styles: lagers, pale ales, golden ales, IPAs, premium ales, amber ales, stouts and porters. Among the hops used across the range are Styrian Goldings and German and Polish varieties.
Alongside its alcoholic beers, Bishop Nick also produces an alcohol-free IPA, extending the portfolio to sober-curious drinkers and anyone who prefers their beer without alcohol. The brewery sells through multiple retail channels.
