Martyr Pale Ale
Martyr Pale Ale is an alcohol-free American pale ale from Bishop Nick, a Braintree brewery whose name and beers reference the martyred Tudor bishop Nicholas Ridley.
About This Drink
Martyr Pale Ale is Bishop Nick's alcohol-free pale ale, its name a direct reference to Nicholas Ridley, Bishop of London, who was burned at the stake in 1555 for refusing to recant his Protestant beliefs. The brewery, revived in 2011 by Nelion Ridley, draws on a family heritage stretching back to 1842, when Thomas Dixon Ridley established a brewery on the River Chelmer in Essex. That operation continued for six generations before being sold in 2005. The beer uses American hop varieties to anchor its bitterness as a non-alcoholic pale ale.
