Burnt Mill
Burnt Mill Brewery is a Suffolk-based craft brewery founded in 2017 by Charles Robinson on a family farm near Stowmarket, producing hop-forward beers and an alcohol-free pale ale launched in 2024.
Robinson established the brewery after leaving a career in the corporate world, motivated by a long-standing interest in West Coast American hop culture and the beers produced on the US Pacific coast. The brewery is sited in a renovated barn at Badley, near Stowmarket, and operates a custom-built brewhouse designed to the brewery's own specifications. Burnt Mill's visual identity, defined by minimalist landscape-inspired can art from designer Luke Inman, has become as recognisable as the beers themselves.
The core output is full-strength hop-forward beer, with a focus on high-quality malts and hops sourced from around the world. Burnt Mill launched its first alcohol-free beer in early 2024: a New Zealand Extra Pale Ale brewed with Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops, both native to New Zealand and used for their distinctive aromatic character. For sober-curious drinkers who want genuine hop presence, the AF beer carries the same sourcing rigour and hop focus that defines the wider Burnt Mill range.
The alcohol-free beer is available through specialist alcohol-free retailers. The AF range currently consists of this single focused product, available to the sober-curious drinker who seeks out hop-forward AF options from independent craft producers.
