Community Beer Co
Community Beer Co is a brewery based in Dallas, Texas, founded in 2013 by Kevin Carr, that propagates its own yeast from an on-site lab and includes an alcohol-free IPA in its range.
Carr brewed the first batch in December 2012 and sold the first keg in January 2013. He named the brewery for the belief that a business can have a positive impact on its surrounding community, and the brewery operates under the slogan "Beer for the Greater Good". Community Beer Co is based in the Design District of Dallas. It later opened a 70,000-square-foot facility along Stemmons Freeway as part of the Pegasus Park development, adding a full-service restaurant and event space. The brewery sponsors events to give back to the North Texas community.
Production is built around in-house yeast work. Community Beer Co runs a custom-designed yeast propagation system and cultivates its cultures from an on-site lab. Five yeast varieties serve the core range, and upwards of 12 strains run across the full portfolio, with advanced fermentation techniques applied throughout.
The alcohol-free IPA uses Mosaic, Sabro and Simcoe hops. It launched as a taproom exclusive, announced via social media, before becoming available more widely from autumn 2022. One of its drinks has picked up awards. Distribution covers Texas.
