Courtney's is a Devon family business rooted in Whimple, a village that has been growing apples since 1893. The orchard they work was once home to Cydrax and Peardrax, two brands that made the area famous in the cider world. That history sits beneath everything they do now.

The family makes traditional cider, fruit ciders, gin, rum, and juice from fruit grown and pressed on site. Apples are hand-picked, and the orchards are managed without sprays or fertilisers. Fermentation relies on the natural yeasts on the apple skins rather than cultured additions. It is a fairly hands-off approach, and the results have picked up awards.

Their alcohol-free entry is Courtney's Light, a 0.5% ABV cider made from 100% pressed Devon apples. It sits in the low-alcohol bracket rather than the fully alcohol-free category, but at 0.5% it qualifies under UK labelling rules. The style is medium, the calorie count is low, and the production method is the same as their standard ciders. There are no artificial additions.

Courtney's is primarily a cider and spirits producer that happens to make a low-alcohol option, not a brand built around the AF category. That context matters. Courtney's Light is a genuine product made with the same care as their full-strength range, but the brand's identity and reputation come from its alcoholic range. Distribution is mostly online and through specialist retailers rather than mainstream supermarkets.
