Courtney's

Courtney's is a family cider and spirits business based in Whimple, East Devon, that has been making cider for over a decade before adding gin and rum to its range.

The brand produces from an ancient orchard originally planted and used by Whiteways of Whimple more than 100 years ago. Courtney's manages over 450 trees on site, some more than a century old, growing old Devon apple varieties. The orchard operates without sprays or fertilisers, and the apples are hand picked and pressed within the orchard. Leftover apple pulp is passed on to local farmers as feed for their pigs.

Fermentation uses only the natural yeasts present on the apple skins. The juice and cider are then blended, carbonated, bottled, and pasteurised at production facilities in Dunkeswell, Devon. All ciders are made from 100% apple juice with no concentrate. The wider range, which includes gin and rum alongside the ciders, takes its cues from the local Devon environment.

Courtney's produces an alcohol-free cider for those who prefer drinks without alcohol, sitting alongside the full-strength lineup. The brand is owned by Vigo Presses Limited and is available through multiple retail channels.
