Fierce
Fierce Beer is an independent Scottish craft brewery founded in Aberdeen in 2016 by Dave Grant and Dave McHardy, with an alcohol-free range spanning lagers and hazy fruit-forward styles.
The two founders met on a brewing course in Sunderland while both were working in the oil and gas industry. By 2018, the brewery had outgrown its original Aberdeen site and relocated to a larger facility in Dyce, significantly increasing production capacity. Fierce Beer's philosophy centres on flavour as the primary objective, and that principle extends into its AF lineup, with the brand developing alcohol-free versions of its most popular beers rather than building a separate AF-specific range.
The brewery entered the AF market in early 2022 with an alcohol-free lager, positioning the release at sober-curious drinkers who want craft beer character in an alcohol-free format. The AF range has since broadened to include hazy and fruit-forward styles alongside darker options. One release in the lineup carries a specific cultural note: an AF lager produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Aberdeen FC's European Cup Winners' Cup victory in Gothenburg in 1983, a detail that reflects the brewery's connection to its home city.
Fierce Beer operates its own bars in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Manchester, giving the brand a direct hospitality presence beyond the bottle. The AF range is available through specialist alcohol-free retailers and the brand's own online shop, sitting at the premium end of independent Scottish craft brewing.
