Huyghe
Huyghe is a fourth-generation family brewery in Melle, East Flanders, Belgium, founded in 1906 by Léon Huyghe on a site where brewing records date to 1654.
The brewery adopted its present name in 1938. Under successive generations of the Huyghe family, the range shifted from pilsner towards high-fermentation Belgian beers, a move completed in 1985, and the brewery began producing bottle-conditioned beers in 1987. Huyghe is best known internationally for its Delirium brand and exports its beers to 45 countries. In December 2024, the brewery acquired the family brewery Het Anker, extending a pattern of acquisitions made across several decades.
In 2012, Huyghe moved into a new brewing hall, investing €7 million in the process and raising capacity to 350,000 hectolitres. The project delivered 50% energy savings and a 30% reduction in water consumption, with solar panels installed the same year. Since 2008, the brewery has invested 32 million euros in its operations, saved 95,800 m3 of water, and reduced CO2 emissions by 5,240 tonnes. Huyghe signed the Green Deal with the Flemish government in 2018 and has stated its aim to become the greenest brewery in Belgium.
In 2024, the brewery launched an alcohol-free blonde ale at 0.3% ABV, adding to an alcohol-free range that includes a 0.0% fruit beer. The range is distributed across multiple retail channels and suits sober-curious drinkers looking for Belgian brewing heritage in an alcohol-free format.
