Huyghe

The brewery is best known for Delirium Tremens, a strong Belgian golden ale that became internationally famous for its hand-painted ceramic bottle, pink elephant label, and the controversy it sparked in the United States, where authorities initially took issue with the name. Delirium Tremens won the top prize at the World Beer Championships in Chicago in 2008, which cemented Huyghe's reputation abroad. The Delirium range has since expanded into multiple variants, each carrying the pink elephant motif.

Beyond Delirium, Huyghe brews a wide portfolio including Floris (a fruit beer range), Fruli (strawberry wheat beer), Mongozo (organic and fair trade beers brewed in partnership), La Guillotine, and Blanche des Neiges, among others. In 2024, the brewery expanded further by acquiring Het Anker, the historic Mechelen-based brewery behind Gouden Carolus.

For the alcohol-free market, Huyghe introduced Delirio, a 0.3% ABV blond beer and the first AF entry in the Delirium family. Development took around eighteen months, requiring the brewing team to work with yeast strains that do not produce alcohol, a significantly different process from their usual methods. The result is a pale blond with a creamy head, malty aromas, and fruity and spiced notes that echo the character of the broader Delirium range.

Huyghe is primarily a mainstream and specialist retailer brand in the UK. Delirio gives drinkers who already know the Delirium name a recognisable entry point into alcohol-free Belgian beer, which is still a relatively sparse category.
