Innis & Gunn
Innis & Gunn is a Scottish brewery based in Edinburgh, founded in 2003 by Dougal Gunn Sharp, known for its oak cask maturation techniques and an alcohol-free lager alongside its main range.
Dougal Gunn Sharp grew up around brewing: as a teenager he worked at his father's brewery in Edinburgh. The company launched in 2003, with its earliest work rooted in seasoning oak casks with beer for a whisky distiller. That connection to cask work helped shape a house style built on barrel-aging, which Innis & Gunn has applied across its portfolio of lagers, IPAs, and limited-edition barrel-aged varieties.
Production takes place at Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow, where Innis & Gunn has brewed on contract since 2014. Wellpark operates under Tennent's, itself owned by C&C Group.
By 2017 the brewery had sold 2.5 million cases and agreed a distribution deal to bring its ales into China. Exports reached over 35 countries, and the company ranked as the UK's second largest craft brewer. A crowdfunding round in late 2016 raised £2.4 million, and the business reported a turnover of £12.5 million in 2015. The company opened a taproom in Edinburgh in 2015 and later acquired Inveralmond Brewery in Perth.
In March 2026 Innis & Gunn filed for administration. C&C, which had hosted its brewing operations at Wellpark since 2014, subsequently purchased the brand and its intellectual property.
Alongside its main beer lineup, the brewery produces an alcohol-free lager, giving sober-curious drinkers and designated drivers an option within the Innis & Gunn range.
