Karbach Brewing
Karbach Brewing is a Houston, Texas beer brand founded in 2011 by Chuck Robertson and Ken Goodman on Karbach Street in the city's Spring Branch neighbourhood, now part of Anheuser-Busch InBev's craft portfolio.
The brewery takes its name from its original address on Karbach Street. Robertson and Goodman opened the production site in 2011, growing it over the following years into a large-scale facility complete with a canning line and a public biergarten. In 2016, Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired the business, placing it within what AB InBev describes as "The High End," a collection of craft brewery acquisitions held under its broader group structure.
Karbach entered the alcohol-free category in 2020, among the earlier established US craft breweries to commit to an AF line. The AF beers are positioned as full-flavoured drinks with a low calorie count, aimed at sober-curious drinkers who want the familiar reference points of craft beer without the alcohol. The brand's approach to its AF range mirrors its broader identity: flavour-forward and tied to the Houston character that gave the brewery its name.
As a mixed brewery, Karbach runs the AF lineup alongside a substantially larger alcoholic catalogue. The two sit together in the same range, which suits drinkers who move between the two depending on the occasion. Distribution is broad, reflecting the footprint that comes with AB InBev's network.
Karbach occupies a position in the AF market as a mainstream craft name rather than a dedicated AF specialist, carrying the recognition that smaller alcohol-free-only breweries cannot match.
