The brand was founded by Borja Vilanova, a former professional athlete and entrepreneur whose Mediterranean heritage shaped La Borosa's approach from the start. Vilanova's founding aim was to create a premium alcohol-free spirit that did not compromise on taste or social occasion, with agave as the central flavour reference rather than the more common gin or whisky territory that most AF spirit brands occupy.

The core product, a Blanco spirit, is produced using traditional copper pot distillation to extract flavour from blue agave and botanicals. Copper pot distillation is a method used across premium spirits production; applying it to an entirely alcohol-free product gives the Blanco a flavour depth that simpler botanical infusions rarely achieve. The result delivers earthy agave notes with citrus and a peppery finish.
