Longbottom & Co
Longbottom & Co was founded in London in 2019 by Ed Bathgate, who named the company after his great-great grandparents, Samuel and Harriet Longbottom. The pitch is simple enough: proper tomato juice, made properly. No concentrates, no preservatives, no ingredients that require explaining. Just Canary and Pear tomatoes grown in southern Spain, pressed within a couple of hours of harvest, and blended with carefully balanced seasoning.
The range is compact by design. The Virgin Mary is a ready-to-drink spiced tomato juice that works on its own or as a mixer. The Bloody Mary adds spirits to the same base. Both come in 250ml cans, sized for convenience without being precious about it.
For an independent London brand still in its early years, the distribution story is striking. Longbottom appears on multiple international airlines including British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Qantas, and has secured shelf space at Fortnum & Mason on Piccadilly. Premium travel retail tends to be conservative about new listings, so that kind of placement signals the brand has made a genuine impression on buyers.
The tomato drinks category in the UK is relatively uncrowded at the premium end, and Longbottom has carved out a clear position within it. The alcohol-free offer is the Virgin Mary, which holds its own as a standalone drink rather than existing purely as a mixer waiting for vodka. Available online direct and through selected premium retailers.
