Lowlander

Kampman founded Lowlander after working in a London gin distillery, where he developed a deep interest in botanical ingredients. That experience is central to the brewery's identity: Lowlander builds its beers around a practice the brand calls botanical brewing, incorporating herbs, spices, and fruit alongside traditional brewing ingredients to add character and depth of flavour. The AF range launched in early 2019 and has since expanded to cover fruit-forward IPAs, wheat beers, ginger-spiced formats, and seasonal releases. Lowlander positions the range for sober-curious drinkers who want more from an AF beer than a conventional lager substitute.

Ingredient sourcing is a recurring theme across the range. Several products incorporate reclaimed or upcycled ingredients: citrus peels collected from bars and restaurants in the Netherlands appear in the wheat beers, and seasonal IPAs have been brewed with spruce needles from recycled Christmas trees alongside juniper berries. These choices sit alongside Lowlander's membership of 1% for the Planet, through which the brewery commits 1% of all sales to environmental causes.

Lowlander distributes to more than 20 countries worldwide, with specialist alcohol-free retailers and the brand's own webshop covering international markets. Pricing sits at a premium point, reflecting the botanical sourcing and the independent brewery positioning. The Dutch origin and botanical approach give Lowlander a clear identity within an increasingly crowded AF beer market.
