Lucky Saint

Boase founded Lucky Saint after concluding that existing AF beers lacked the quality and sense of occasion drinkers deserved. He spent two years working with brewers across Europe before settling on a Bavarian production approach, drawing on centuries of German brewing heritage. The flagship lager undergoes six weeks of fermentation and conditioning, considerably longer than most mainstream lagers, before the alcohol is removed using vacuum distillation. Vacuum distillation operates at reduced pressure, which lowers the boiling point of alcohol and allows it to be separated from the liquid at temperatures low enough to protect the delicate aromatics built during extended conditioning. The beer is left unfiltered throughout, so yeast remains in the finished product and contributes body and texture that filtered AF lagers often lack.

Lucky Saint launched the Unfiltered Lager in 2018 with a single product. The range has grown carefully since: a Hazy IPA arrived in 2023, and a Lemon Lager followed in 2024, extending the offer for sober-curious drinkers and designated drivers who want variety across hop-forward and lighter styles. Lucky Saint also operates its own pub in Marylebone, London, giving the brand a physical home in the on-trade that few dedicated alcohol-free producers have established.

Distribution is broad by the standards of a dedicated AF brand. Lucky Saint sits across mainstream supermarkets, specialist alcohol-free retailers, and direct-to-consumer channels, as well as more than 5,000 pubs, bars, and restaurants. That on-trade presence is central to how the brand positions itself: Lucky Saint is designed for a pub round or a restaurant table, not just an online checkout. The range sits in the premium bracket, consistent with the extended production process and Bavarian provenance.

Lucky Saint entered the alcohol-free category in 2018 and has since built one of the broader on-trade footprints among dedicated AF brands. The combination of Bavarian brewing heritage, extended conditioning, vacuum distillation, and a physical pub in London represents an unusually complete package for a brand operating exclusively in the AF category.
