The spirit is fermented from hemp using a proprietary yeast strain that yields minimal alcohol, then refined through copper pot distillation in 16th-century style stills. The hemp used contains no CBD or THC, and the finished product contains no alcohol. The botanical formulation includes hemp, wormwood, angelica root, gentian root, juniper, ginger, sage, saffron, orange peel, wild-crafted Douglas-fir, and natural terpenes.

The brand's concept draws on hemp-derived botanical preparations popular in the late 1830s, when hemp had a prominent place in plant-based remedy culture. The bottle design takes visual cues from historical remedy bottles, and the founders drew on the mythology of snake oil salesmen as a further reference point.
