Rittmayer
Rittmayer is a family-run German brewery in Hallerndorf, Franconia, with roots stretching back to 1422 and an alcohol-free range that includes wheat beers and Kellerbier.
Rittmayer has operated continuously in Hallerndorf, in the Forchheimer district of Franconia, since 1422, making it one of the oldest family-owned breweries in the region. The brewery is currently managed by Georg Rittmayer. In 2012, the family built a new, modern brewing facility on the outskirts of Hallerndorf, expanding production capacity whilst retaining the traditional Franconian brewing craft the brand is built on.
The alcohol-free range draws on regional beer styles. Kellerbier (literally 'cellar beer') is an unfiltered lager traditionally matured in underground cellars, a style central to Franconian brewing culture for centuries. The wheat beers and AF Kellerbier give sober-curious drinkers access to styles that are integral to the local tradition but little known outside Bavaria and Franconia.
Rittmayer is a member of the Bayerischer Brauerbund, the Bavarian Brewers Association. The brewery also maintains the Rittmayer-Keller, a traditional beer cellar on the Kreuzberg hill near Hallerndorf that has long been part of local beer culture in the area. Together, these elements position Rittmayer as a brewery whose AF range is a natural extension of six centuries of regional brewing, produced at a facility that pairs historical craft with modern production infrastructure.
