Stowford Press
Stowford Press is a Herefordshire cider brand produced by H. Westons & Sons Ltd, an independent family-owned cider maker founded in 1880 and based in the village of Much Marcle. The brand takes its name from Stowford Farm, where founder Henry Weston first settled when he arrived in Much Marcle.
The low-alcohol variant, launched in 2013, is among the earlier low-alcohol ciders from an established British producer. It is made using a spinning cone column, a low-temperature method that separates alcohol from the finished cider by centrifugal force at reduced pressure, preserving the aromatic character of the base liquid through the process. The full-strength cider range draws on Herefordshire apples sourced from within 50 miles of the mill, and Westons still uses oak vats, some more than 200 years old, in the maturation of its ciders.
Stowford Press has been the official cider of England Cricket since 2012, a long-running commercial partnership that reflects the brand's mainstream reach. The low-alcohol variant is available through mainstream supermarkets and specialist alcohol-free retailers, and sits in the mid-range price bracket.
For the sober-curious drinker who wants a recognisable, orchard-rooted cider with a documented production method and genuine Herefordshire provenance, Stowford Press LA offers a well-established option from a producer with over 140 years of cider-making history behind it.
