Verdant Brewing
Verdant Brewing is an independent craft brewery, founded in 2014 in Falmouth, Cornwall, that produces hop-forward beers including an alcohol-free IPA. Adam Robertson, James Heffron, and Richard White set up the brewery as three homebrewers with an ambition to make US-inspired beers that were missing from their local scene. Starting as a small operation in Falmouth, the brewery moved to a new facility in Penryn in January 2020, supported by a crowdfunding campaign the same month. A team of 40 people now runs the operation, which includes a taproom in Penryn and hospitality venues across Cornwall.
The brewery specialises in hazy, hop-saturated, unfiltered beers in the New England style, the US-influenced direction the founders pursued from the start. Pale ales, IPAs, and double IPAs form the hop-led core, with oats used in the IPA recipes to contribute body and texture. Lagers and stouts round out the portfolio. Small-batch brewing allows the team to work across a broader set of styles, and brew lengths run to 40 hectolitres.
The alcohol-free beer is produced using a specialist yeast and traditional brewing techniques that remove alcohol from the beer.
The brewery runs a taproom in Penryn and operates venues in St Agnes and Falmouth, including a seafood bar and an inn. The Falmouth seafood operation was established in 2018. Verdant remains independently owned.
