Curious Zero is a lager that also wants to be a functional drink. The base is built on Yakima hops and malted barley extract, which gives it a recognisable beer character: light hop bitterness, a hint of grain, and a clean finish. Apple juice concentrate and clarified lime add a fruity sweetness that sits in the background. Lion's mane mushroom extract and maca root are the functional additions, included for cognitive and energetic benefits; they don't alter the flavour noticeably. The pour is a clear, bright gold with a white head. The nose is grassy hops and light grain, with a faint citrus note from the lime. On the palate the bitterness is gentle and restrained, the hop character clean rather than complex. Oak tannins add a touch of structure and the finish is dry. It's a decent non-alcoholic lager. Note: contains barley, so not suitable for anyone avoiding gluten.
