About This Drink
MiastoLas is a craft brewery based in Kluczbork, Poland, and Sowa na Rowerze — "Owl on a Bicycle" — is their take on a Belgian witbier without the alcohol. The style calls for wheat alongside barley malt, a fragrant spice addition, and unfiltered conditioning that leaves the yeast haze in the glass. This one follows that template, using coriander seeds alongside orange, lemon, and grapefruit peel to build the citrus and herbal character that defines the style. It pours a light orange and naturally hazy with a delicate white foam. The aroma is citrus-forward — the peel additions come through clearly alongside the coriander's subtle herbaceous note. It is pleasantly sweet on the nose without being cloying. On the palate, the citrus leads with a mild bitterness underneath and malt in the background providing a soft grain base. The finish is mild and a little sweet, with a faint spice linger. A straightforward, easy-going witbier that does not try to do too much. The citrus and spice additions are well-judged rather than heavy-handed.
