Caesar AF is the alcohol-free version of Caesar Augustus, an award-winning hybrid style that Williams Bros. have been making since before the AF category was taken seriously. The idea is straightforward: take the clean, crisp chassis of a lager and add the aromatic bitterness of an IPA. Cascade, Azacca and Citra provide the hop character, covering citrus, tropical fruit and a floral finish, all sitting over a simple base of malted barley, hops and yeast. The pour is clear and pale, lager in appearance. The aroma opens with citrus and a touch of tropical fruit from the Azacca and Citra, with a clean grain quality underneath. On the palate the lager crispness is evident first, followed by a discreet bitter finish that gives the IPA element away. It's not sharp -- the bitterness is measured and balanced against the malt rather than aggressive. Gluten has been removed and tested below the 20ppm threshold, so it qualifies as gluten-free. Vegan.
