About This Drink
ALT. is a Norwegian brand with a straightforward premise: make alcohol-free wine that actually behaves like wine. This Organic Sparkling White is their Chardonnay-based blanc de blancs, built from certified organic grapes grown on the sandy, calcareous soils of La Mancha in central Spain. The alcohol is removed using vacuum distillation, a gentle process that works at low temperatures to preserve aromatic compounds that conventional heat-based dealcoholisation tends to strip out. In the glass it is pale straw with lively persistent bubbles. The nose leads with green apple and citrus peel, underscored by a light floral note. On the palate it lands on the drier side of the AF sparkling spectrum — genuinely extra-dry rather than the sweetened-up approximation you often encounter. Acidity does the heavy lifting here: it gives the wine structure and length without needing residual sweetness to compensate. At 14 kcal per 100ml and 2.9g of sugar, the numbers are modest. The organic and vegan certifications are genuine (Debio-certified in Norway). It is a credible food wine — works well with lighter dishes, salads, or anything where you want something with a bit of spine. Not complex, but honest and well-made for the price.
