About This Drink
Marlborough is about as reliable a home for Sauvignon Blanc as you'll find anywhere in the world, and M&S's Silver Frond draws on that reputation. Made from 99.9% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, it's dealcoholised using a process the brand describes as preserving the full flavour — which, in this style, means keeping the punchy gooseberry, tropical fruit and zesty citrus character that makes the variety distinctive. What you lose with dealcoholisation is the weight and warmth that alcohol contributes, so the wine sits lighter in the glass than the full-strength version. The aromatics tend to survive the process better than structure does, which suits a variety like Sauvignon Blanc — all about nose and freshness — reasonably well. It's confirmed vegan-friendly, pairs well with fish and salad-based dishes, and is a decent low-alcohol answer to the question of what to pour when you want something wine-shaped but not wine-strength. Contains sulphites.
