Hades Stout
A proper alcohol-free stout with genuine roasted depth — chocolate, coffee and caramel without thinning out or tasting like a compromise.
About This Drink
Dark beer in the AF space is often where the wheels come off. The colour can be there but the body isn't, or the roasted character has been dialled down to the point where it's more mid-brown ale than stout. Hades avoids that. The chocolate and coffee notes are actually present at a level that registers, and there's a caramel sweetness sitting underneath the roast that gives the whole thing some structural weight. At 0.5% ABV it's technically low-alcohol rather than zero, but most people find that helps with mouthfeel — a common complaint with alcohol-free stouts is that they feel watery against what the aroma promises. That's not a problem here. The palate follows through on what you smell. Confirmed vegan. Available from Dry Drinker and other UK AF retailers, typically around £3.75 a can.
