Micro Dose IPA
A 0.5% hop-forward IPA from this Lewes microbrewery, built around Citra, Nelson Sauvin Cryo, and Simcoe — the kind of hop bill you'd find in a serious full-strength craft IPA.
About This Drink
Abyss started in the cellar of The Pelham Arms in Lewes and won the BREW LDN Accelerator Competition in 2020, beating nineteen other fledgling breweries. That backstory matters because Micro Dose is the product of a brewery that clearly takes its hop character seriously, even when the ABV is negligible. The hop selection tells you everything about the intent. Citra brings tropical fruit and citrus; Nelson Sauvin Cryo adds that distinctive white wine, gooseberry quality that divides opinion but rewards those who lean into it; Simcoe provides some resinous backbone to stop it all floating away. At 0.5%, there's just enough body to carry the aroma properly, which is where most alcohol-free IPAs fall down. Brewed in small batches and sold direct, Micro Dose isn't the easiest thing to find outside of East Sussex. Worth ordering online if you want an AF IPA that actually smells and tastes like one.
