About This Drink
JumpShip's Dazzle Ship range has been a world tour through the globe's hop fields — Galaxy from Australia, Azacca from the US. For Harlequin, they've come home. This IPA is built entirely around a single British variety: Harlequin, grown by the Capper family at Stocks Farm in Worcestershire, developed by Charles Faram. Head Brewer Pete encountered it during hop walks and pushed hard to brew with it. The hop is an offspring of Jester, but it's taken a decidedly un-British turn — no earthy tweed here, just bold tropical fruit. In the glass it pours hazy and golden. The nose is pineapple-forward with warm candied fruit behind it. The palate follows suit before the finish shifts towards bittersweet marmalade — which is where the British heritage does show up, briefly and pleasingly. It's fruit-forward and approachable, but with enough bitterness in the tail to satisfy anyone who wants a proper IPA. Like the rest of the Dazzle Ship lineup, it comes in 440ml cans. Worth trying alongside the Galaxy and Azacca versions to see how differently a single hop can read across styles and terroir.
