About This Drink
Red Admiral was designed as a winter beer — amber in colour, heavier on malt than JumpShip's paler offerings. Rye sits at the heart of the grain bill, giving it a distinctive nuttiness that you don't often find in alcohol-free IPAs. The three hops — Admiral, Pilgrim, and Jester — are all British varieties, which keeps this firmly in domestic terroir. The hop character runs towards warm and spicy rather than tropical: think stone fruit and marmalade peel rather than pineapple. The fruit and spice layers come from the hops; the breadiness comes from the rye and base malt. Combined, it reads as an IPA with amber ale tendencies — aromatic but not brash. At 59 calories per can it's in the mid-range for the JumpShip lineup. Vegan and gluten-free across the board, as with the rest of their range.
