Natural Bridges is named after Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz, a stretch of coast known for its rock arch and monarch butterfly population. The beer is the quietest in Surreal's range, and intentionally so. It pours pale golden straw with a white head and gentle carbonation. The aroma is clean and understated: a hint of honeydew melon, soft biscuit malt, and a faint floral note. On the palate the malts are delicate and lightly sweet, with that honeydew character carrying through the mid-palate. Bitterness is low, as it should be in the style, and the whole thing finishes crisp and clean. At under five calories per 100ml it is one of the lowest-calorie non-alcoholic beers in any style. Gluten-reduced to under 20 PPM. The Kolsch style suits the health-forward angle well: it has enough flavour to be drinkable but makes no demands on the palate. Serve very cold in a tall glass.
