About This Drink
Adriatico Non-Alcoholic Amaretto is an alcohol-free amaretto made in Puglia, in southern Italy, and Adriatico describes it as the first amaretto to be sold as part of a full range that includes a zero version. Rather than thinning down the alcoholic original, it is built from scratch around roasted almonds from Puglia. The almonds are slowly roasted, then macerated, meaning soaked to draw out their flavour, and distilled, with cane sugar for sweetness and a pinch of sea salt. The result is an award-winning amaretto with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The aroma is toasted and bitter almond with caramel, tonka bean, vanilla, a little pepper and a touch of floral gardenia. To taste there is roasted almond, frangipane, ripe banana, citrus and cocoa, with a touch of cherry stone and a subtle bitterness and spice. It finishes on maraschino cherry, coffee, hazelnut and gingerbread, with herbal and woody touches and a trace of salt. Adriatico suggests drinking it neat, in cocktails or in desserts.
