About This Drink
Nanny State is among the earlier alcohol-free releases in the BrewDog range, first brewed in 2009, predating the brand's now-familiar "AF" naming convention. Where much of BrewDog's current alcohol-free lineup carries the "AF" suffix, Nanny State retains its own identity as the original low-ABV entry from the Ellon, Aberdeenshire brewery. The recipe uses five specialty malts, including wheat and crystal, and is hopped with six varieties: Centennial, Citra, Simcoe, Cascade, Chinook, and Ahtanum. At 50 IBUs, it carries a notable bitterness level for an alcohol-free amber ale, achieved by controlling the ABV at the fermentation stage rather than removing it afterwards.
