Fire & 5th Rhubarb & Grapefruit is the fruit-forward entry in the Fire & 5th botanical spirit range. The recipe took two years and more than 100 iterations to finalise, with the core design challenge being how to replicate the warmth and sensation of a spirit in a fully alcohol-free serve. The solution uses ginger and chilli extracts to deliver the characteristic heat. The flavour is structured in three stages: initial rhubarb sweetness, a citrus mid-palate from the grapefruit, and a spiced finish. Conceived as a more complex alternative to sugary sodas and fruit juices, it is positioned as a serve comparable to a pink gin or refreshing spritz, and is designed to be mixed over ice with soda water.
