Where many non-alcoholic sours hold back on the fruit, the Gelato series pushes it forward. The beer pours a hazy blush-pink, fruited and opaque. Strawberry leads on the nose: ripe and slightly jammy, with the warmth of fresh summer fruit rather than anything artificial. The lactic base adds a light dairy note that amplifies the ice cream quality the series aims for. On the palate, fruit comes sweetly up front, tartness arriving behind it. There is enough acidity to prevent it from becoming cloying, and the finish is clean. It does exactly what the can promises.
