About This Drink
Where Ghia's Original leans into amaro-style bitterness, the Berry Apéritif goes deep into fruit. The base is strawberry juice, black currant and a cold brew of lapsang souchong and chamomile teas, which gives it a structure closer to a natural wine than a conventional soft drink. Poured over ice it opens with ripe strawberry and a faint smokiness from the tea. Black currant brings a tart, jammy layer; gentian, cardamom, clove and orris root build a drying, tannic undercurrent. Holy basil and honeysuckle lift the mid-palate before the finish pulls long and dry. One part to three parts sparkling water is the standard pour. Drink it straight over ice for something more concentrated, closer to a glass of natural wine.
