About This Drink
Flying Colours Amber Ale sits within JumpShip's Flying Colours sub-range as the brewery's take on a traditional British bitter given a contemporary craft reworking. It was launched in early 2021 as the third addition to the JumpShip core lineup. The recipe uses a blend of five malts to build the characteristic amber base and biscuity structure, hopped with British Archer and American Willamette varieties for a light citrus and herbal character. Founder Sonja Mitchell developed the recipe specifically to address the mouthfeel deficit common in low-alcohol beers, with a focus on producing a body closer to a full-strength amber ale. At 0.5%, it is produced without dealcoholisation, relying instead on natural controlled fermentation to keep alcohol levels low.
