About This Drink
Mash Gang Stout is the brewery's foundational dark beer, described by the brand as the benchmark that proved an alcohol-free stout could stand on its own terms. The approach avoids dealcoholisation in favour of high-protein grain bills, using oats and wheat to build body and structure from the start. Dark grains are cold-steeped to extract colour and flavour without the astringency that can result from standard mashing. The intention was to show that an alcohol-free stout could replicate the chewiness and depth of a high-ABV pastry stout without the associated alcohol. Within the Mash Gang range, it serves as the anchor for the darker beer portfolio.
