About This Drink
Noughty Blanc is a blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay from the Western Cape's south-west facing slopes, the same region as the Rosé. The 55/45 split gives the Chenin Blanc's natural freshness and acidity the lead role, with Chardonnay adding body and stone fruit roundness. Fermentation runs for 14 days at 14-15°C, followed by two months on lees before dealcoholisation through gently spun cone technology under vacuum. The result is a dry white with genuine complexity for the format. Yellow apple, melon and citrus dominate the nose, lifted by honeysuckle and jasmine. The palate mirrors this with good acidity and a fruitiness that reads as natural rather than manufactured sweetness. At 17 kcal per 100ml it is light, and the lees ageing adds a quiet textural weight that stops it feeling thin. Serve well chilled at 8-10°C. Works alongside grilled fish, light pasta, or as an aperitif. Gluten-free and vegan, under 0.5% ABV.
