Worth noting upfront: despite the name, there's no coconut milk or cream in this. The coconut character comes entirely from flavouring, with the base built around pineapple juice from concentrate (4%) topped up with apple juice, apple purée, and peach purée. The result is a fruity carbonated drink that gestures at piña colada rather than attempting to reproduce it. The carbonation is the other obvious departure from the classic cocktail, which is traditionally blended and creamy. This is a fizzy soft drink that happens to taste of pineapple and coconut, which isn't necessarily a problem, just a different thing. Sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame K alongside sugar and invert sugar syrup, the sweetness is noticeable but not aggressive. At 18 calories per 100ml and a pound a can exclusively from Sainsbury's, it's fine as an easy crowd-pleaser.
