Veldensteiner Hefe Weißbier Alkoholfrei is an alcohol-free wheat beer from Germany, brewed in the top-fermenting tradition where the yeast works at the top of the tank. It is sand-orange under a fine-pored, cream-coloured foam. The aroma is fresh banana, with a subtle citrus character following. The taste is fruity over a malty, caramel-like body, brewed from an original wort of 6.6 degrees Plato (a measure of the sugars in the unfermented brew). The beer also carries vitamins and is aimed at calorie-conscious drinkers. It has won awards.
