BERO
BERO is an alcohol-free beer brand born in London and based in Kingston-upon-Thames, founded by Tom Holland in early 2022. Holland created the brand after searching for an alcohol-free beer that both tastes great and presents as a high-quality product, with the idea growing from his own experience. The brand development process took approximately a year, and BERO officially launched on 16 October 2024.
The beers are brewed by brewmaster Grant Wood using a natural fermentation process. Standard commercial brewing begins from wort with a fermentable sugar content of 12-13%; BERO's process starts at 5-6%, paired with a special maltose-negative yeast that does not convert sugars into alcohol in the way conventional brewing yeast does. Because alcohol is never produced in significant quantities during fermentation, the beer does not require dealcoholisation (the process of brewing to full strength and then removing the alcohol). High-quality malts and wheat are used throughout the range.
The range covers four beer styles: Pilsner-style lagers, hazy IPAs, West Coast-style IPAs, and wheat beers. Each can carries a trout icon that draws on Kingston's civic identity: it represents the fish on the town crest and references the three original salmon fisheries associated with Kingston-upon-Thames. A bright gold runs through the visual identity across all brews. The range is not certified Kosher.
BERO is available in the UK and the United States, as well as internationally.
