Erdinger
Erdinger Weißbräu is a Bavarian wheat beer brewery founded in Erding, Germany, in 1886 by Johann Kienle under the name Weisse Bräuhaus, and today the largest German wheat beer brewery in family ownership. All beers are brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law, using only water, hops, malt and yeast. Brewing water is drawn from two wells sunk 160 metres beneath the Erding site, and the house yeast is cultivated on-site, a strain unique worldwide. Select hop varieties contribute a mild, aromatic bitterness across the portfolio.
Erdinger produces ten varieties of beer. The brewery extended its range in 2022 with the introduction of bottom-fermented beers, broadening a tradition built almost entirely on wheat beer. Its Weißbräuhof was reopened in 2008, and a fan club was founded in 1995.
The alcohol-free wheat beer is brewed from malted barley and wheat and is isotonic, meaning its mineral balance is close to that of body fluids, which supports rehydration during or after physical activity. Since 2015, Erdinger has positioned its alcohol-free beer as a sports and post-activity drink, marketing it to athletes and fitness-focused drinkers. Erdinger is the number one brand in Germany for alcohol-free beer. A non-alcoholic light beer was added to the range in 2025.
The brewery exports to 106 countries, with its beers available through a broad retail footprint internationally.
