La Galinière
La Galinière is a Provençal winery in Châteauneuf-le-Rouge whose documented history as Château de la Galinière begins in 1733, producing red, white, and rosé wines under the Côtes de Provence and Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellations, with an alcohol-free rosé in the range.
The domain's history extends to Roman times, when the site served as a fortified post. Claude-Joseph Comte purchased the estate in 1817, and in 1890 his great-granddaughter Anne-Marie Durant inherited the domain and married Jean-Baptiste Badetty the same year. A chapel was added in 1919, and the property served as a convalescent home from 1957 to 1983.
The 40 hectares of vineyards sit at altitudes between 230 and 257 metres above sea level on clay-sandy soils rich in bauxite, with southern exposure. The vines are fully trellised to withstand the mistral. Grape varieties include Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rolle, and Viognier. Grapes are harvested at night in cool temperatures, and the estate practises parcel-by-parcel vinification in stainless steel tanks. Red wines are made using traditional maceration; white and rosé wines use direct pressing with pellicule maceration, followed by cold stabilisation.
La Galinière's range covers reds, whites, and rosés including sparkling rosés, under both the Côtes de Provence and Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellations, with rosé the primary focus. The alcohol-free rosé extends the portfolio for those seeking Provençal wine styles without alcohol.
