La Gioiosa
La Gioiosa is a prosecco producer from the Veneto region of northern Italy, founded in Treviso in 1974 and ranked among the top five Prosecco brands globally. The brand takes its name from the province's ancient title, "Marca gioiosa et amorosa", and was born from the entrepreneurial spirit of the Moretti Polegato family, who remain in charge after three generations. With Stefano Gava as winemaker, La Gioiosa is one of Italy's leading Prosecco producers. It has added alcohol-free sparkling wines to its range for sober-curious drinkers.
The alcohol-free range is made through a process different from de-alcoholisation. Whole Glera grapes are soft-pressed using a pneumatic press, and the resulting must is held in temperature-controlled tanks at 0%, meaning alcohol never forms. La Gioiosa also flash-chills grape must after harvest and chills 100% of its production prior to secondary fermentation.
The brand launched the La Gioiosa for Life project in 2017. It draws 20% of its electrical requirement from hydropower via the Brentella Canal, uses solar panels and energy from the Piave River, and holds a Biodiversity Friend certification.
La Gioiosa's sales have grown consistently ahead of the market over the last three years.
