Lindemans has been making lambic in Vlezenbeek, a quiet farming village on the outskirts of Brussels, since 1822. Six generations of the Lindemans family have kept the same unusual production method alive: spontaneous fermentation, where wild yeasts floating on the air do all the work. No cultivated yeast, no shortcuts. The result is something that tastes nothing like a normal beer.

Lambic is Belgium's oldest beer style, and Lindemans is one of its best-known producers. The brewery grew out of a working farm, combining agriculture and brewing until 1930 when it committed fully to beer. Today brothers Dirk and Geert run the operation, and the annual output puts them comfortably among the largest lambic producers in Belgium.

The flagship range leans heavily on fruit. Framboise (raspberry), Kriek (cherry), Pêcheresse (peach), Cassis (blackcurrant), and Apple are all lambics blended with fruit juice or macerated fruit, giving them a sweet-tart character and relatively low alcohol. The traditional end of the range is the Cuvée René series, Oude Gueuze and Oude Kriek made in the classic unblended style, sharper and more complex than the fruit range.

For those avoiding alcohol entirely, Lindemans introduced Pêcheresse 0.0%, their first alcohol-free release. It uses peach and a lambic-inspired brewing method to produce something genuinely different from the usual crop of dealcoholised lagers. A subtle acidity underpins the peach sweetness, which is more interesting than most AF fruit beers. The format is 25cl bottles, currently found through specialist Belgian beer importers and a handful of online retailers in the UK.

Lindemans sits in a slightly awkward spot in the alcohol-free category: the AF range is a small extension of a much larger alcoholic portfolio, and UK availability of the 0.0% variant is still limited. Most alcohol-free beers taste broadly similar. A lambic-based option is something genuinely different, even if UK distribution for the 0.0% is still catching up.
