Martini
Martini is an Italian vermouth and aperitif brand, founded in Turin in 1863 by Luigi Rossi, an herbalist and liquorist. The brand's full name, Martini & Rossi, comes from a wine merchant and a master blender, and Martini was the brand that shaped the aperitivo occasion. The ball and bar logo was created in 1929.
Production is based at Pessione di Chieri, outside Turin. The blends draw on more than 40 botanicals, a tradition passed down through eight generations of blenders. A historical archive was established at the Pessione site in 1999.
The range spans vermouths, Italian sparkling wines, and cocktail bitters. Martini has entered the alcohol-free category with two aperitivos, produced using the same wines as its vermouths, with the alcohol removed, then infused with sustainably sourced botanicals. Martini has been a pioneer in alcohol-free vermouths for almost a century.
Bacardi acquired Martini & Rossi in 1993. The alcohol-free aperitivos are available through mainstream and specialist channels globally and are suited to sober-curious drinkers.
