McGuigan Zero
McGuigan Zero is the alcohol-free wine range from McGuigan Wines, an Australian producer based in the Hunter Valley, where the McGuigan family has been making wine since 1880. McGuigan Wines is the flagship brand of Australian Vintage Limited, one of Australia's larger publicly listed wine companies.
The Zero AF range launched in early 2020 after two years of development, with the stated aim of matching the flavour profile of the winery's full-strength wines as closely as possible. The wines are first produced to full strength and then dealcoholised (the alcohol is removed from the finished wine, rather than the wine being made at low strength from the outset) using spinning cone technology. A spinning cone column is a low-temperature method of separating alcohol from wine: the liquid passes through a series of rotating cones under reduced pressure, which draws off the alcohol without the high temperatures that would damage delicate aromatic compounds. McGuigan Zero is also free from artificial sweeteners and additives.
The range covers still whites, reds, and rosés as well as sparkling variants, giving sober-curious drinkers a familiar varietal framework to navigate. Distribution is broad across mainstream supermarkets and specialist alcohol-free retailers, making McGuigan Zero one of the more accessible dealcoholised wine options at the value end of the market. Pricing sits below many of the European de-alcoholised wine labels that dominate the premium end of the category, giving the range a distinct position for shoppers weighing quality against cost.
