About This Drink
West Coast is a specific flavour directive: dry, resinous, pine-forward, with bitterness that lingers. Lowtide's take uses four hops that cover that territory well. Simcoe and Citra are the classics here — piney and resinous from Simcoe, grapefruit and lime from Citra. Azacca adds papaya and tropical citrus, while Ekuanot brings an earthy melon and citrus note that ties the selection together. The grain bill includes malted barley, oats and wheat, which gives the body enough weight to support the hop intensity without going heavy. The colour is amber-golden, the carbonation crisp. The aroma is hop-led: citrus, pine and a faint floral quality from the Azacca. On the palate the bitterness is genuinely present and does linger, which separates this from the many AF pales that promise a West Coast character and then pull their punches. The malt body stays dry and clean rather than adding sweetness. Vegan. Contains gluten. At 23 kcal per 100ml it sits in the mid-range for the Lowtide lineup. A good choice if you specifically want that dry, piney West Coast bitterness rather than a softer, tropical AF pale.
